This is a book of letters I wrote to my daughters, starting when my daughters were toddlers and continuing for over thirty years.
Writing “love letters” to your child is rich with positive long-term consequences. It is a chance to compliment your child, affirm her, tell her how she has enriched your life and how much she means to you, thank her, give her encouragement, and tell her you love her.
Many parents, like me, are not skilled at expressing their feelings. Writing expressive letters or notes—leaving them in your child’s lunch box, under her pillow, in her backpack, taped to the steering wheel, wherever—can go a long way toward strengthening your parent-child relationship. What parents don’t long to connect deeply with their children? Sadly, the pressures and demands of daily life conspire to stop this from happening. Writing a love letter to your child is an effective way to strengthen your unique bond with your child and show her how much you care.
